If you are new to the world of smoking cannabis, you might have a lot of questions about what herb grinders/crushers are. You might also be wondering how to use this piece of equipment.

As the name suggests, a herb crusher helps in breaking your weed into small pieces which can then be effectively used in a bowl or wrapped in blunts.

You can buy a grinder in your nearest head shop or smoke store or can even buy a weed crusher online. They come in all shapes and sizes and can be a simple cannabis grater to a multi-chamber weed grinder.

But you first need to know how to use it. Read on to learn more.

What is a Herb Grinder?

As mentioned, an herb crusher helps in breaking your weed into tiny bits so that you can use it effectively in a blunt or roll it on paper.

It’s true that many processes exist regarding grinding cannabis but using a ganja crusher makes the process easy and quick. Plus, these crushers come with a kief catcher to make sure you use every single bit of your stash.

Usually, a kief catcher will be located at the bottom chamber below the screen and catches all the cannabis resin knocked off due to the grinding process.

You can scoop the kief off the grinder and add it to the top of your joint or bowl. You can also collect it and use it later to make your own hash bricks or cook powerful infusions.

The grinding chamber with blades is located in the area above the screen. The metal herb grinders/crushers typically come equipped with a magnet to make sure your weed doesn’t fall off during the grinding process.

How to Use a Herb Grinder?

For your convenience, we have divided the grinding process into four simple steps and have them mentioned below.

Use your fingers to break bigger buds of your weed down into smaller pieces. Now, remove the top lid of the weed crusher and place the pieces in between the blades of the grinder. The center part is where the magnet rotates, so no buds in the center will be shredded. So, do not put any weed flowers in the center.

Now, cover the grinder up by placing the lid on top of it. Now, give it about 10 pivots or more until all the material has fallen down to the collecting chamber.

Next, unscrew the bladed chamber to find the basket layer where the freshly ground weed collects.

Now, remove the kief collecting chamber from the weed grinder and check the amount of resin that has been collected. You can either scoop off a portion of it and sprinkle it over your bowl or joint. Or, you can save it for later use to prepare hash or some weed-infused goods.
